The Monkey Island Special Edition Collection (abbreviated as MISEC) is a retail release of the Special Editions of the first two Monkey Island games, being The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition and Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge, for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.[1] It was developed by LucasArts and was released on September 9, 2011 in Europe.[2] As well as all the features present in the previously released Special Editions, the disc contains never-before-released bonus materials, including concept art for the games, full-length remastered game soundtracks, and the storyboard and concept art for the Monkey Island movie that was in production at one point at ILM.

Special Features[]

Concept art[]

While MI2SE came with a concept art viewer, SMISE lacked this feature. With this retail release, that has been redressed - concept art from the first Special Edition is now viewable as well.

Soundtracks[]

The disc contains the music that was especially composed by Jesse Harlin for the Special Editions. The soundtrack is only playable through the built-in launcher, but with the Monkey Island Music Extractor from Quick and Easy Software, the music tracks can be extracted as individual OGG files.

Monkey Island movie[]

Perhaps the most interesting bonus feature, the disc contains the never-before-seen storyboard from the cancelled Monkey Island movie, as well as concept art. This marks the first official confirmation (albeit indirectly) by LucasArts that such a project ever actually existed.
